John Brook Anderson was born on 29 December 1919, the son of Eli and Almyra Anderson. He was married to Shirley Anderson of 1139 R Street, Fresno, California. He was the pilot of a B-24J Liberator Bomber (42-109807) with the name Tennessee Dottie.  He was based at Tibenham Station, England.  On 12 April 1944, his bomber crashed near Mettet, Belgium, about 10 kilometers northeast of Florennes.  Anderson was still at the controls of his bomber when it creashed.  His surviving crewmembers believed that he was trying to prevent the plane, which still had a full payload, from crashing into the villages below.  He was initially buried in the cemetery of the community of Gosselies before being transfered to the Ardennes American Cemetery.
