Julian Wade Farrior was born on 24 September 1916 in Burgaw, Pender County, North Carolina. He was the son of David John Farrior and Lela Shaw Johnson.  He had seven brothers (Edward, Alan, Stanley, William, David, Charles, Joseph) and five sisters (Ruth Mary Anne, Rachel, Grace, Catherine.)  He received both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters of Science degrees from North Carolina State College.  Julian married Grace Betts, and they had a son together, Julian W. Farrior, Jr. They were living in Richmond, Virginia when Julian entered the Army on 1 June 1942. 

Julian graduated from Officers Candidate School, and was assinged to the 112th Infnatry Regiment of the 28th Division.  They shipped overseas in October of 1943.  His division landed at Normandy on 22 July 1944 and was immediately engaged in Operation Cobra. His division had the honor of marching down the Champs d’Elyse in Paris on 29 August 1944, and then was thrown into the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest.  During that battle, Julian was serving as the Executive Officer of Company G of the 2nd Battalion.  He was Killed in Action on 9 November 1944 near the church in Vossenack, Germany.  He was 28 years old.
