Guy Remington was born in Paris on 6 August 1912. He was the son of Count Silvio and Countess Ruth Willits deZerman, and his name at birth was Guy deZerman.  However, Ruth later married Frederick Remington, who adopted Guy and gave him his last name.For several years, Guy lived in Italy, and one his two sisters was born there. When Guy was 12, the family emigrated to America.

Guy attended the St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire for two years, then the Gunnery School at Washington, Connecticut and he ultimately graduated from the Valley Ranch School in Wyoming.  After working first in a lumber camp and later on a horse ranch out west, he returned to New York, wrote a novel, and then tried his hand at various jobs, principally journalism and advertising.

When the war broke out, Guy enlisted in the Army at the age of 29 and was assigned to the 26th Field Artillery Battalion of the 9th Infantry Division.  He participated in the North African landings and the Tunisian campaign.  He then took part in the Sicily landings.  On 20 September 1943, he received a battlefield commission to 2nd lieutenant. After Sciliy, Guy was reassigned to the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, and he parachuted into Normandy on D-Day.  He was then reassigned to the 26th Field Artillery Battalion where he served as a Forward Observer through the Cherbourg campaign and through the fast-moving advance across France and Belgium.  On 13 October 1944, Guy was near the town of Zweifall in Germany during the Battle of the Hürtgen forest when he was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
