George Herrmann, Jr. attended the Palatine High School from 1934 to 1937 where he was “a popular boy” and a talented athlete.  He graduated from Morgan Park Military Academy. He served with the 743rd Railway Operating Battalion where he was the conductor of a train crew.  George died in a train accident on 11 April 1945.
