James R. Addison was born in 1915 in Haddon Heights, New Jersey.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Addison. He graduated from Haddon Heights High School.  He was married to Mary (Bretherton) Addison and they had a daughter named Judith.  Before entering the service in March of 1944, James worked for the Esterbrook Pen Company in Camden and the New York Shipbuilding Company in Camden.  He was a well-known semi-professional baseball player in New Jersey.  One month after arriving in Europe, James was Kolled in Action during the battle of the Hürtgen Forest.
