Floyd Grant was born around the year 1915.  He was the son of Mrs. Anna Grant Mackey who appears to have been a Native American from the Choctaw Tribe according to the 1930 Census.  He grew up in Durant, Oklahoma and the family belonged to the Baptist Church.  He graduated from Durant High School in 1933 and from South-Eastern Stage College, Durant in 1937.  He married Mary Cornelia Mayginnes on 21 September 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Roy served in Company M of the 3rd Battalion of the 289th Infantry Regiment, 75 Infantry Division.  He was Killed in Action at Beche, in the area of Salmchâteau in the direction “Grand-Bois."  His brother Roy Grant also died in the war and is also buried at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery.  (Informaiton provided by Henri Hannon.)
