Albert William English was born in 1924 in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois.  He was the only child of Albert Wilson and Jean Neva (Glenn) English.  He joined the USAAF on 4 September 1942 in Peoria, Illinois and was assinged to the 786 Bomb Squadron of the 466 Bomb Group.  He was the Right Waist Gunner on a B-24 Liberator that was piloted by Kenneth Kessneger.  On 8 April 1944, the bomber was shot down while on a raid to bomb an aviation plant near Brunswick.  The bomber’s pilot, Kenneth Kessnger, and the navigator, Roland Boulter, are also buried at the Ardennes American Cemetery.  There is a memorial marker for Albert in the Glennwood Cemetery, in Colona, Henry County, Illinois.
